Project Management
“Poor Planning produces Poor Performance”
Project management consists of a set of techniques which can be used by an individual seeking to enhance their own performance, or across an organisation in such a way that everyone involved will speak the same language and use the same methods.
The most effective organisations adopt a common framework which everybody uses - with flexibility to be more robust on big, important projects or to use a light touch on the minor issues - but defining the end point, the goal or the outcome is crucial, with a timetable and some analysis of assumptions.
If priorities change and resources are deployed elsewhere, projects must not be left in limbo - either close them down or extend the timetable to something achievable.
